Perthshire Writers was founded in 1976 as a society in which aspiring and published writers can share their work in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

What we do…

Our programme runs from September through to May. We meet at 7:30 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the Murray Room, Salutation Hotel, 30 South Street, Perth PH2 8PH

Some write purely for pleasure, while others have several publications to their credit.

We cover all types of writing – poetry,
short stories, articles, drama, etc.

You can find out more about a typical club night under the ‘guidance‘ section.

Interested to find out more?

If you are interested in trying us out, then please contact our Secretary, Anne Pack, at secretary@perthshirewriters.org.uk to let us know you are coming along. You will be most welcome.

At a typical meeting, members bring along and read work on a given theme, receiving comments and advice from other members. Information is also given about relevant conferences, competitions and other events for writers.

There are annual competitions judged by established writers from outwith the group.

Over the years the group has had links with Perth Youth Theatre and Perth Hospital Radio, and has presented A Pocketful of Perthshire during Perth Festival of the Arts, with members performing poetry, prose and sketches in public.

We have just released a new anthology containing a selection of writings by all members of our society.
